The Keeper

Sunday was one of those days
when I was downright proud of my boy.

He is #36

He plays travel soccer
but his team does not have a steady goal keeper.

They have one who plays for home games
but he is out with a concussion.

When they need a Goal Keeper
my son, unfortunately for him,
is very good at it
and they ask him to fill in.

He does not love playing Keeper.
Grumble, grumble  grumble.

So he usually plays keeper for the first half
and another player covers the 2nd half.

On Sunday, they played a very good team
who previously had beaten them 5-1.

He manage to pop this ball up and over the net. Amazing.

There is goes over the net!  Whew!

My boy played keeper as usual
and did not allow one goal
despite MANY shots on goal.

The coach asked him
if he would also play Keeper for the 2nd half.
He did.

Our team won 1-0.
He allowed no goals.

He has turf burn and a bruise
from being kicked illegally in his side...
for which the kicking player was carded.

 But he can be proud
he did not allow one goal the entire game.

That's him on the ground stopping the ball.

Those are his cleats in the air. :)

And Mama is proud he stepped up to the plate
 when his team needed him
and played Keeper the entire game.

It was worth running around an hour before the game
to find new soccer gloves for him.
I am glad I didn't chastise him for only giving me an hours notice.
:)

His friends showed up in support
wearing shirts that spelled his name.

Kudos to my boy.
I am especially proud of him today.

I'm very impressed with your boys goal keeping and the great shots you got of him! I'm a huge soccer fan...something a lot of people don't understand. I'm glad things went well for him and the team. Where was I last night? At the Seattle Sounders soccer game! Have a great week.

Hubby and I are avid soccer fans. Your boys do well. Exciting pictures. You must be Proud.

We watch soccer on T.v we get the channels by Satalite.

My fav is Wayne Rooney of course. Can he run and can he kick and head bunt those balls. One game we seen last week. I was jumping out of my seat.I think it was 3 he got in net. His assistant the young guy they just got. Rooney know each others moves well.

All things stop when I know it is his game coming.
