After my husband proposed marriage all those years ago
I was giddy at the thought of marrying him
AND that I was marrying into a family with a bakery.
(I was like getting married
and going to heaven all at once.)
After marriage,
a steady stream of sweetness came our way
with Mom-mom (Helen Haegele) always remembering
to tuck in something chocolate for me.
Now, 30 years later,
Mom-mom is no longer with us
but the family bakery
continues serving up sweets to the neighborhood.
We don't visit as much as we used to
when Mom-mom lived above the bake shop,
but we did make a visit yesterday.
For a party we brought home
Butter Cake
A vanilla cake bottom with a creamy buttery top.
Bee Cake
A vanilla cake filled with cream, topped with honey, and almonds.
Apple Cake
A vanilla cake with sliced apples on top.
and, of course,
a few other chocolate items pictured above.
But the chocolate was not for me.
I've given up chocolate as much as possible...
it really was an addiction.
And if I don't have it
I don't crave it.
Instead, my son enjoyed the chocolate.
When it comes to sweets, he's just like his mom.
❤
Gotta love him.
❤❤
And the marriage?
It has been 30 years of heaven.
❤❤❤

BUTTER CAKE! My favorite!
P.S. I want to add that THIS is one of the best looking Butter Cakes I've ever seen...and I've seen quite a few in my lifetime :)
Oh Yummy! They all look delicious. Having worked in bakery in high school I burned out on sweets then, so I rarely ever have them. I would prefer some nice fresh fruit.
That Apple Cake looks amazing!!!!!
Oh my...all these cakes look so delicious!!! I really love cakes so much, especially the Bee Cake smiles impertinent at me :)
