I Can Live With That

A Migraine

July 4, 1984
I didn't know what hit me that day,
but hit me it did.
It was my first migraine headache.

This past week I had three migraines
on consecutive nights into days.
One of those migraines
necessitated me missing an outing with
my photography group.
Instead of having fun outside taking photos,
I was in bed until 1pm
and then slept off the meds until 4pm.
(That's how I spend about 25% of my life,
but for me that's just normal.)

I've seen all the specialists,
know all my triggers
tried all the medications,
but the meds that work best for me
make me goofy
("Mom, did you take migraine medicine again?")
then knock me out.

When I woke up completely migraine free on Saturday,
I was not going to waste a beautiful day.
I grabbed my husband and
we took a little trip to the location
I missed visiting earlier with the photo group.

I am always thankful
for pain free days,
especially when they fall on the weekend!
And I am so thankful
that migraines are the worst of my problems.
Very thankful.

So sorry you were under the weather but so glad you seized the day to go out and take pics, gorgeous!
Thanks for linking up!

Some beautiful shots! I get migraines....not nearly as frequently as you describe, and mostly hormone related. Chiropractic has been my go-to...I tend to get worse side effects from medication than the problem it's trying to fix! I really appreciate your heart and attitude - it shows through as you capture the good that's around you!!

I am so sorry you battle those. I know a few people who do and I know it is tough on them. Love that you don't waste your good days. These are gorgeous photographs.

I am so glad you are feeling better, Rebecca.
Migraines are truly nasty things.

I am so grateful I do not experience these on that level of frequency - but when I do, sleep is the best remedy (in fact, the older I get, the more 'sleep' is the answer to what ails me). Talk about loopy - that is me on allergy medicine - worthless, completely worthless and non-drowsy is a suggestion and not a fact. Thank you for sharing the wonderful images from your day out.

Sorry to hear about your migraines. I suffered from them in my twenties, then they stopped, so guess I was lucky.

Looks like you made up for lost time on Saturday....some really beautiful shots there. I particularly like the first one.

Hi Rebecca, this is my first visit. I love your photos and your grateful spirit. The 'modern hieroglyphs' are my favorite today. I suffer from migraines, also, and they completely incapacitate me for a whole day and night. I always feel like I am at the top of the world when it finally goes away. Glad you seized the day and shared your lovely photos. (new follower) xo Karen

Sorry to read about your migraine (did you ever try to eat low carb, it helps) and you missed your photography group ;(
Your shots are amazing! Love them

I'm so sorry you have to suffer them at all! My mom used to have horrible migraines, then all of a sudden they just stopped. Don't know if it was menopause or something else but it was such a relief to not see her in pain like that. The photos are beautiful! Glad you were still able to visit the site even though it probably would have been more fun to be with your group. Take care!

Oh gosh. 25% of your time? That is tough. I'm glad you broke out of it long enough to take these pics, though. I love the hieroglyphics!

I can't imagine. I am one of those people who would spend a whole year finishing one bottle of aspirin. My mother on the other hand has chronic headaches. Although they are not migraines, she has had them daily for as many years as I can remember, even back to my early childhood. Maybe someday they will find some relief for those of you who suffer with these debilitating headaches. The photos are gorgeous! As usual!

My migraines don't happen often, thank goodness. Lovely photos, thanks for sharing!

Gosh, totally taken with that last shot! So sorry about the migraines. I had about 5 years here I would get them fairly frequently. As bad as they were, my prescription made me feel even worse. So I had to suffer thru them. Glad you had a pain free weekend and were able to get out.

I have migraines too though not so bad. I tell the story about making my husband take city streets across 2 counties because I was too sick to navigate him to the expressway. Thanks for sharing you lovely photos

I've gotten really bad migraines since I was small, they're so painful sometimes it feels like my skull is going to split in two. On a brighter note, great photos, especially that last one!

Beautiful photos! I get migranes too, but not as bad as yours. Medication helps without knocking me out.

I have had one full blown migraine in my life and it was awful. I have had others that are probably a 8 out of a 10 on the pain scale. I can't imagine having them on a regular basis. So glad you got to get out your husband to go shoot.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and you got out. I've never visited that Audubon society.
