I always wonder what the point of this is. Great image. Somewhere up north I have driven past a shoe tree, next time I see it I must stop and get some photos.
Neat shot. It does make you wonder what they are there for & why. I've heard about the "gang" thing and also that "drugs" are sold in places where the shoes hang near.

In Bristol (UK) there is a shoe tree... it is absolutely covered in them. A strange but somehow cool urban phenomenon
