A Side Road and a Wrong Turn

When you take a side road and a wrong turn,
you just never know what you might find.
In this case, Architectural Antiques.

Bible Study

Just the seeing the place and I knew it was gonna be a winner.
And even better, the owner - Wayne -  invited me to take pictures.
How cool is that?

Snow Birds: Keep the white stuff from sliding off your roof in an avalanche and banging up whatever’s underneath.

This place is like a museum of architectural details.

Yard Sticks

And some pretty creative use of things.

Baseball Bat railing spindles

I kept thinking if only I was Joanna Gaines,
I would have been able to summon up some ideas of what to do with this stuff.

A ceiling of doors.

Shutters to go with tons of old windows.

Always More

This was such a cool place.
Room after room of architectural antiques.
So if you have an old house,
you just might find what you need here.

Miriam's Meadow

At summer's end Miriam's Meadow is a field of gold

The meadow is named in memory of Dr. Miriam Groner, a PHD botanist
and is part of the Wilma Quinlan Nature Preserve in New Britain Twp. PA.

Miriam lived 1910 - 2005
and contributed much to the field of botany,
including her home the three acres on which it stands.

It' s beautiful stop and off the beaten path.
If you are in the area take a moment to enjoy the meadow.

Discovering John Roebling's Bridge

Apparently it is a big deal to be a Roebling Bridge.

I had never heard of John A. Roebling until a recent
stop to take some pictures.

A woman who lived nearby pointed out
that the bridge I was photographing was a "Roebling Bridge."
And sure enough, that's what the plaque says.

John Roebling immigrated from Prussia to where he settled in Western Pennsylvania.
He designed and built wire rope suspension bridges.
His most notable achievement is the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.

Ya never know what you'll learn from taking pictures.
I'll have to do it more often.

More pictures of the bridge and surrounding area are here.

The Most Charming Farm in PA

I can't truly attest to this being the most charming farm
because I haven't visited them all.
But it is very charming.

And it's fall...with pumpkins...
so up the charm meter.

This was a spontaneous stop
on a day trip to take pictures with a friend.

The very friendly welcoming committee

I like it here because it isn't overly commercialized.
It just feels like a family farm.

With a farm store, flower fields and pumpkins along a canal
making it a perfect fall stop for photos.
