A Little Switcher-roo at the Farm

Terhune Farm Store, Mercer County, New Jersey

Who doesn't love a visit to a farm.
You know, farm fresh local food right?

Path to Pick Your Own Blueberries

You can even pick your own,
but I find it puzzling that it costs the same to buy them ready picked in the farm store.
Why invest the time and energy then?

Blueberries in Terhune Farm Store

And I find it even more puzzling to see this happening:
Crates of pints of blueberries from....
another farm.
(That's not the puzzling part yet.)

Blueberries from Whalen Farm in the Terhune Farm Store packing room.

Those pints being opened and 2 pints dumped into a new quart container.
(That's not the puzzling part yet.
2 pints does equal a quart after all)

Repacking Whalen Farm Blueberries

And then here they are ready to go out in the farm store
looking (to the unknowing consumer)
like freshly picked blueberries from Terhune Orchards.
When really they are blueberries from Whalen Farms
just repackaged.

It left me with an uneasy feeling -
like I was witnessing plagiarism or something.
(And think of all those wasted containers.)

What do you think about this?
Sneaky or not?

People Watching in the Park

Beautiful days bring people outside,
and I was outside too.
I took these photos earlier in the spring
and just got around to them now.

I gave him my Coke...
which I always carry in case I get a migraine.

Not sure what they were doing...
but it looked interesting.

(or in my case allows a photo for a buck.)

Soooo....
At which point did you know
these were not real people?
 They are all sculptures
at Grounds for Sculpture
in Hamilton, NJ.

And being there plays tricks with your mind.
You never knew when you were
looking at a sculpture or a live person...
unless they happen to move.

I highly recommend a visit.
And make it soon,
unless they extend this show
a lot of these sculptures will be going elsewhere.

PS. I'm a bit behind in visiting blogs.
With all the end of year activities for my son,
who will be graduating in one week,
I haven't had much time to visit.
But next week I should be able to
get back into the swing of things.

Take Me Away...

Come away with me to Pemberley...

...and then we'll visit Norland too!

Sigh,
back to reality.
These places are fictional and
only made popular by Jane Austen
in her novels.

But my imagination loves them.

In fact, I  love all Jane Austen novels.
I just went through a spurt of rereading them
and watching the corresponding films.

I think
the best place to read one of these novels
is surrounded by the right environment.

So on a lovely day
I take a copy of Pride and Prejudice,
or perhaps Emma,
along with my imagination
to Princeton University.

It is like I am living in the novel.
If the students there would just wear period clothing,
it would be perfect!

The Kingston Flour Mill

Now defunct, this pretty red mill was once the Kingston Flour Mill.

It sits on the North end of Lake Carnegie in Kingston, NJ.

The original mill built in 1798 was lost to fire
and the replacement was built in the 1870s.

The mill has been placed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
