The German tradition of an advent calendar is a delightful way
for kids, young and old, to count down until Christmas.
Each year, my husband's Aunt Jeanne, sends
her grandkids, great nieces and nephews an Advent Calendar
with little chocolates behind the doors.
Even though my two oldest are in their twenties...
they still enjoy the fun.
And this year, my sister visited Germany
and brought one home for us...
so I get my own!
It has chocolate treats inside too!
There is none for Christmas day.
There are plenty of other gifts and treats on that day,
plus nothing can beat the greatest gift of all!
Jesus.
Merry Christmas!

Very pretty and traditional!
That reminds me that I have an Advent calendar for Winston Ocicat. I didn't buy it - it was sent free from a pet food supplier! Whatever next?
They look so fun and friendly. The chocolate sure seems much better than the chocolates in our $1.99 grocery store advent calendars.
And, yes, I am so thankful for Jesus ♥
Sending our love this Christmas to you and your family.
Best Regards,
Dave, Eng and Ysabelle
Merry Christmas and Sorry.
Wonderful series! Merry Christmas!
:-)
It's been a long time since I have seen an Advent calendar. When my children were little, I made them once. Perhaps next year for my Grandloves.
BlessYourHeart and Merry Christ-mas
I've got three calendars! Two that I reuse every year being old enough to do that and with pictures only in them. One made from felt with goodies in it which I change every year. But then I'm 1/2 German!!!!
Merry Christmas Rebecca!
I always loved that calendar and those chocolates as a kid..I must remember to get them for my grand kids next year..
I am a new visitor and follower from Pa. :)
Advent calendars are next to impossible to find here in the San Francisco Bay Area!
I still love the Advent calenders (we have 'em in Holland too), and especially the chocolate!! Hope your family enjoyed Christmas:)
Advent calendars are so much fun for the kids (young and older ones) My 20 year old son received one from his German teacher and he opened all the little doors and ate the chocolate each day.
