Golden Fields of Sunflowers

A magical field
owned by a car wash
showcases an annual attraction
of sunflowers.

Sunflower lovers flock
from near and far
to enjoy their golden splendor.

The field is open to the public
and free of charge.
(...but it would be nice to
wash your car there
to thank them!)

A relatively new player
in the sunflower field experience
is located at
Kohler Farms.

This sunflower field
is a memorial to
Chuck Kohler.

I hope to see this field continue
and grow in coming years
because every community
needs a sunflower field.

Fading Summer

Who doesn't love a field of sunflowers?
I know I do.
It's too bad I didn't discover this one until summer's end.

Never Forget and Passing the Torch Combo

In memory
and with appreciation
of those who fought
for our country.

I said Yes to Kathy
at You'll Shoot Your Eye Out
to continuing the Virtual Blog Tour.
However, I did not realize my date
coincided with Memorial Day in the US.
So, today you get a combination post.
Whenever else would I get to use all these war images?

Virtual Blog Tour Question 1:  What am I working on?

*Recreating married teacher-daughter's room into a guest room.

It's a place I will use my new favorite color: Canning Jar Blue.

*Getting gardens ready for summer.

I wish I would use garden gloves
to preserve my delicate hands,
but I always pull them off and
have dirty nails afterwards.

*Cleaning images off the computer -

an endless task
like the song that never ends.

Virtual Blog Tour Question 2:
How does my work differ from other's of it's genre?

If I could concisely define my genre,

I might be able to give you an answer.
And therein lies my problem.
I'm undefined.
But that's who I am.
You never know what you'll get
and neither do I.

Virtual Blog Tour Question 3.
Why do I write/create what I do?

A response to my environment:

Something moves me, humors me, touches me, interests me.
My heart pitter-patters and
it drives me to pick up the camera in the moment.

Virtual Blog Tour Question 4.
How does your writing/creativity process work?

"How do you catch a cloud and pin it down?"

It's spontaneous.

And I pass this virtual tour torch to...

another Becky.
Becky Leatherman Adams.
I had the pleasure of meeting Becky
in Philadelphia when she organized
a photo walk for iheartfaces.

This is what Becky says about herself:

Any way,
about me?
Well, I am 33.
I love my kid SO much.
It is sort of ridiculous.
I actually love all children.
I think they are magical.
I have green eyes.
I am fat.
Always have been.
I have a GREAT husband.
My family is amazing.
I love taking pictures.
It makes my heart sing.
I think living inspired is the best way to live.
Life is short.
I believe in Jesus.

Becky is sweet, kind, thoughtful, helpful...beautiful.
Check out some stories she has captured
on her blog, Life with Kaishon.
Enjoy her beauty.
It will make you smile.
Her blog is approaching 1,000 followers
so you know you don't want to miss out on anything there.
So hop to it!

Autumn Wonderland

It wasn't quite an Autumn Splendor,
and not quite a Winter Wonderland either.
It was an Autumn Wonderland!

An early winter storm before the leaves
had finished falling from the trees
was certainly a surprise.

I took these photos out the car window
as my husband was driving.
We should have stayed home!
The untreated roads were really slick.

But we NEEDED pumpkins -
so we shopped for pumpkins in the snow.

Lady in Blue

I went to anAmerican Civil War encampment
at Graeme Park in Horsham, PA
I had never visited there before
and was able to take advantage of a
tour of the Keith House.

One of the reeactors was this lovely lady
dressed in blue.
Her dress is Civil War era.

Although the house is steeped in
Revolutionary War era history
it did exist and house a family
through the Civil War as well.

The history surrounding Keith House
is fascinating
and I will post on that
in the near future.

Seeing our Lady in Blue there
gave you the feel of a glimpse
back in time.

The complete photo gallery is here.

If you go...
We had a wonderful tour by a
very knowledgeable high school senior.
The grounds are free and
Keith House tours are only $5.
If you live nearby, please stop in!
These historic places
have suffered severe budget cuts
and need our help to survive
through the current economy.

A Birthday Celebration

New Year's Eve in our home is a birthday...
My youngest, and only son, was born on New Year's Eve -
much to my husband's joy - (he really wanted another tax deduction to offset capital gains.)

We have made a tradition of celebrating the two events by joining Wing Mak,
now owner of Wing Lee Cuisine in Horsham, PA,
for a Birthday/New Year's Eve dinner.

Wing Lee's is my son's favorite restaurant.
It is Chinese, but not just any corner store Chinese,
it is delicious Chinese food.

Wonton Soup

You will never want to go back to your
corner Chinese place again after visiting Wing Lee's.

Steamed Dumplings

The food is melt in your mouth delicious.
Crispy on the outside, yet tender on the inside kind of deliciousness.

Shrimp with Vegetables

And Wing is friendly as can be.

Sizzling Shrimp & Scallops in Pepper Sauce

Wing makes sure customer service is a priority too.

Honey Walnut Shrimp

Even if you think you don't like Chinese food...
this will change your mind.

So if you are one of my local follows,
RUN don't walk to Wing Lee's.
The rest of you I must leave drooling!
