It's In the Details

www.rebeccahaegelephotography.com
Washington House, Yellow Springs, PA

Every where I go I notice the details.

Lemon Hill, Fairmount Park, PA

That is why I just love architectural elements.

Woodford Mansion, Fairmount Park, PA

Sit me in an old structure and I am happy just taking it all in.
Every.little.detail.

30th Street Station, Philadelphia, PA

Take me to an architectural salvage shop
and my heart sings.

Mattison Castle, Ambler, PA

It's a cheap date - that salvage shop.

Smithville Park, New Jersey

Until I decide that a salvaged mantle
would look so much better over our fireplace
 than our 1970s version.
I think it's time to tell my husband I need a cheap date
cause that mantle is starting to bug me.

That cheap date just got expensive.
Shhhh...he doesn't need to know yet.

I love your details, Rebecca. I recently read "The Paris Architect", and this reminded me of the detail that helped an architect survive the war.

I'm with you, at odd angles looking for the unusual, connecting with the artisan who created the masterpiece.

i have never had a mantle of any kind, no fireplace at all. well mother had a fake mantle over a fake fireplace but i don't count that as mine.
i love the lion and LOVE the KEY... and that first photo is amazing. the texture/details of brick, wood, bannister, and looking down down down. LOVE IT

Oh yes, it is all about the details. I have to find a good architectural salvage store near me.

Sometimes it's a matter of looking up to see the detail, and not just keeping your eyes at head level if you get my meaning.

You did an awesome job capturing the "details" here. I loved them all but I think my favorite was the Lions head
