In the small town of Stockton NJ
along the Delaware River Canal
you will find an old mill.
These blue signs indicate the early use of the buildings.
The earliest date is 1711 for the Grist Mill!
Below is a millstone used for grinding grains.
They can weigh tons!
The water rushes from the canal into the mill.
Here water flows from the canal back into the river.
I noticed they have been updating the canal controls since the last time I visited.
I sort of like the look of the old lock controls,
but I guess they are impractical by today's standards.
