Who? What?

This is my blue eyed husband.
We opened Christmas gifts in our Living Room...
called 'The Blue Room' - since the walls are blue.
He received this hearing protection for when he plays with his outdoor toys.
He promptly put the hearing protection on and then through out the morning kept saying...
Who?
When?
What?

It cracked us up...we kept telling him to take the hearing protection off!
But I guess he didn't hear us.

The Advent Calendar

The German tradition of an advent calendar is a delightful way
for kids, young and old, to count down until Christmas.

Each year, my husband's Aunt Jeanne, sends
her grandkids, great nieces and nephews an Advent Calendar
with little chocolates behind the doors.
Even though my two oldest are in their twenties...
they still enjoy the fun.

And this year, my sister visited Germany
and brought one home for us...
so I get my own!

It has chocolate treats inside too!

There is none for Christmas day.
There are plenty of other gifts and treats on that day,
plus nothing can beat the greatest gift of all!

Jesus.
Merry Christmas!

Shiny Bright

When I see these old Shiny Bright ornaments
at flea markets or thrift stores, I usually pick them up.
But I don't use them on my tree,
I use them to decorate around the house.
They remind me of my childhood.

Merry Christmas!

Blues in a Vacuum

This old vacuum is a loaner from my inlaws...look how old it is.
And it still works!!

Has anyone noticed that vacuum cleaners just don't last like they used to?
My first vacuum, a Eureka,  lasted 15 years or more.
Then for the past 10 years, I have had 5 vacuums! That's FIVE!
That averages one every two years!

Well, my most recent "Top Rated" Kenmore just died.
It was only two years old...and it had been repaired last year for $100!

I am fed up with vacuum cleaners.
I am fed up with Consumer Reports ratings.
(I think they are in bed with Kenmore...just sayin' since
all my "Top Rated" Kenmore products have been, well, cr!$p.

So this time I decided I was going all out...and bought a Dyson.
If you have bad news about Dyson...please don't tell me!
You know, the one Consumer Reports said has no suction...
well the thing practically ate a rug.  No suction?....hmpf.

The bright side is...it has a 5 year warranty.
Here's hoping for many happy years in a vacuum.
Then again, there is always this old Eureka still puffin' away.
Love the SHAG setting, don't you?

Factory Blues

This old factory used to manufacture asbestos.
It closed many years ago and has been a fixture in town for as long as I remember.

What makes me blue is that, along with some sister buildings, it is being demolished!
I know, it needs to be demolished because of the asbestos...
but it was such a big part of the history of our town that I am sad to see it go.

There was a big ta-doo about building a highrise in its place,
but last I heard, that effort was defeated.
I don't know what the future holds for the property.
Time will tell.
