Robin's Egg Blue

I bought myself a box of crayons...exciting, I know.

The purpose of the box of crayons is photo inspiration.
Great idea...but not mine.

Each week one crayon is drawn from the box
as an inspiration for your photos.
And this week just happens to be Robin's Egg Blue.

How cool is that!
A perfect way for me to start...with blue!

I can't wait to see what next week's color will be.

Fire and Ice Festival, Mt Holly, NJ Part 2

This is the fire part of the Festival...
I posted on the ice here.
I love that this part was held in the old town Fire House.
Check out the dates on the corners...that's pretty old by USA standards

Inside the fire house was a Chili Competition.
Here you see they are prepared in case things got a little too hot!

After the judging was finished
the public was welcome to circle around
and taste all the entries.

Mmmmmm, yum

My personal favorite was called 'Biker Chili.'
It was a complex mix of peppery flavors with a kick.
And check out the 'bike' he is serving it from

Out and about there was a lot of other things going on.
Here are some of my favorite shots.

Smallest dog I have ever seen...under 2lbs.

A lady stilt walker who juggles too.

A few reenactors from the Revolutionary  War.

Balloons are always fun.

Music from the storefront.

Dog sled demos

Fire and Ice Festival, Mt Holly, NJ Part 1

Had a little fun today in Mt Holly, NJ.
Their Fire and Ice Festival was today and my husband and I checked it out.
We give the event two thumbs up!

This set of photos features some of the Ice Artists.

Here is how the artists attach a piece of ice to another...
Take a swig...

Spit it onto the joint....

Hold in place until your fingers practically freeze off.

I think she has fallen in love with her maker...

But there was so much more...
including the Fire!
Part 2 is here.
You can check my galleries here for the complete set of photos.

Lindenwold Terrace in Winter

I have posted about this little street in Ambler before,
but this is my first collection of photos in winter.
The street is called Lindenwold Terrace -
The mature trees and historic homes make it one of my
favorite spots in the neighborhood.

The 'castle' at St Mary's home has a rich history.

And below it the only shot you can get without trespassing.

The wall along St Mary's Home is across the street from some beautiful homes.

This beauty is on the corner.

In the snow they remind me of Gingerbread Houses.
Here is a summer view and some history of Lindenwold Terrace.

Unami Unami Dresher PA

We tried a new Japanese restaurant last night.
It is just down the road in Dresher PA

The restaurant is in an old stone home that has been completely
gutted and remade into a delightful place.

Chicken Katsu

The food was really yummy.
Shrimp Tempura Combo - hubby said too much batter

And the atmosphere was clean and comfortable.

Chicken Teryaki

Don't you just love pretty food?
I do!

Penn State Abington Campus

These black and white photos were taken at
Penn State University, Abington Campus.

This campus is a commuter school
but offers a large number of 4 year degree programs
so that you do not need to transfer to main campus to complete a degree.

I think it is funny that my daughter ended up here,
because when she was in high school
she wanted to go to school as far away from home as possible.

She applied to NO schools north of the Mason Dixon line
all the way south to Texas.

After one semester in southwestern Virginia and monthly trips home via Amtrack...
she was ready to transfer...back to Pennsylvania.

I guess home was not so bad after all!

She is majoring in biology
and should be finished next year.

It is a very pretty campus!

You can view all my photos of  Penn State Abington here.
